Jeweler, John Lewis, started his business in 1955 in Ogunquit, Maine prior to his move in 1973 to Newbury Street in Boston. All of the pieces from his shop are made in-house in limited editions. No two pieces in an edition are exactly the same. Working in gold, platinum and sterling silver John Lewis made a reputation for himself for producing clean simple jewelry using techniques such as forging and casting, often incorporating a hammered surface texture. His shop is still open to this day, but he is no longer runs the operation. His pieces are known by his registered trademark, JL.
