Photos of two sides of Bronze and moonstone ring, (Ring Size 6) Claire Falkenstein, a long-time Venice, CA sculptor, gained worldwide recognition for her larger than life organic sculptures of metal and glass most notably the gates of Peggy Guggenheim's residence and the fountain at the Long Beach Museum of Art. She has had multiple exhibitions at MOMA among other museums. Occasionally, she would turn her hand to smaller sculptures fashioned into jewelry which she created from semi-precious stones, glass and metals such as sterling silver, bronze, copper and brass. In 2004 The Long Beach Museum of Art put on an exhibition of her jewelry and published a book called, The Modernist Jewelry of Claire Falkenstein in which a photograph of this ring or a similar ring is featured. Rings were a very small portion of her jewelry output. |
