The Collections :
Hindu & Malas: My Hindu and Mala jewelry collections were inspired by my yoga practice and my love of ethnic jewelry. In these pieces I aim to preserve the symbolism of Hindu jewelry while providing more of a fine jewelry aesthetic (precious metals and precious stones) and a contemporary scale than what is currently on the market. The stories behind the Hindu motifs depicted in these pieces are my pleasure to share with the wearer. With the exception of the Ganesha necklace and the Eye of Shiva Ring, all of my Hindu pieces are one-of-a-kind. Although my design direction these days is shifting toward Art Jewelry I will always make malas for the sheer meditative joy of beading and knotting them. I hope you continue to look for them here. (For more information on malas check out an article I wrote for YogiTimes).

Art Jewelry: In these collections, you will see unique clasps, woven metals, fabric and unusual color combinations that reflect my early love of textile design and needle arts, as well as my keen interest in mechanisms, in particular, clasps that function as both clasp and ornament. Many of these pieces are influenced too by the Modernist 20th Century jewelry that I sell and collect. My pieces are meant to be worn, and I take great care to ensure that they are comfortable to wear...definitely not art for art's sake!

Vintage 20th Century: Wherever I travel I search for Modernist 20th century jewelry. The search is often unexpected, (I found Rebaje in India being sold as Parisian Art Deco)! While my own Modernist collection is very focused (late 1960's and early 1970's fine jewelry) I cannot help snatching up more casual pieces from other decades that strike me for my clients. Some of the pieces were designed for fashion designer Runway collections and were never sold in stores, while others are limited editions, and still others mass production pieces. I buy what I like and hope you like it too. |
